I thought we should elaborate- we received an order from a large rigging company for spares to be sent out by TNT overnight service to Spain to rectify an older hoist giving trouble. Amongst the parts were chain guides that needed to be changed on site so that a major production could go ahead.

The only problem- the client didn’t have the required tools in Spain. To solve this problem we sent/ loaned some of our workshop tools with the parts consignments and these were later returned to us, the client was delighted and the job was finished. John Jones

We were very impressed with the Loadguard hoists we used on the Liverpool Summer Pops 2009 shows. The hoists were easy to rig, smooth running and the silent nature of the mechanism was a definite surprise.

The hoists fitted seamlessly with our current control systems and presented no change to our usual hoists. The fact that all the motors were double braked and BA 7906: Part 1- Category A certified enabled us not to safety the front truss saved us both production costs and time during the load in/out and the rig moves.

All in all the crew on site during the shows and for the moves were very pleased and there were no bad comments about the hoists.

When we decided to invest in hoists it was not a decision we took lightly. For us this represented a significant investment and with so many different hoist options available to us we undertook some serious research before parting with our cash.

Before we bought our hoists we spoke to several people who had used LoadGuard and they all raved about their performance so we knew we were investing in a quality product, our only reservation was investing in a new product that was not common in the industry. We decided that we wanted the best products currently available on the market and given the number of people who loved these hoists it was only a matter of time before they became more widely available and people started spec’ing them by name. We also decided we didn’t want to invest in old obsolete technology, there may be other models of hoists out there that are more common but why should our clients have to deal with their limitations just to stick with a brand name.

Our new hoists to BS 7906: Part 1- Category A have performed perfectly every time and turned quite a few heads in the process. The feedback we’ve had from our freelancers, riggers and clients has all been very positive. In the UK we have a legal duty to do everything reasonably practical to ensure the safety of our employees and the public, by deploying these hoists we feel we are fulfilling that criteria whereas a lesser quality hoist would not. In terms of build quality and features versus price I believe the LoadGuards have come out on top as a true winner and with after care from LTM I’m happy in the knowledge that should I ever need support it will be of the highest quality.

As a lighting and Rigging hire and installation company based in Ireland, through the course of our work as riggers, we use many brands of Electric Chain hoists when rigging for visiting tours.

We have now decided to replace our entire hire fleet of CM Lodestar hoists with Loadguard hoists, favouring their excellent features, value and quality.

I would highly recommend the Loadguard hoist to any Entertainment or lifting industry professional.

We do have plans to purchase new motors and rigging and when we get to this time I will certainly be buying them from LTM based on recent price and customer service we have experienced.

Hi David,
Yes, we have already finished the installation. Actually, they are quite noiseless than other motors we have used and the assembly went quite well. The first impression is consequently positive, let’s see if everything goes well with it, within the next months. Concerning the photos, I’ll make sure to take some next time we visit the place and we’ll certainly forward it to you.

That’s great thank you, should keep the inspectors off my back for another 6 months at least.

We recently installed 4 of the 1/4T Loadguard hoists to a theatre. I had a play with them, to form my opinion.

Pros:

Much quieter brake than the Lodestar

Quieter motor

Black chain as standard

ARS chain bag as standard

BS7906 Cat. A compliance means you are not required to fit a secondary (useful when access to the point or load means awkward access

In 1/2 and 1T models, the body is smaller than the Lodestar models Can be supplied in low voltage or Direct control versions

Cons:

1/4T model is much larger than a pro star. (But still smaller than the 1/4T lodestar which uses the F body)

All in all, I was very impressed by the Loadguard, and am considering them for our hire stock. Our client was also very pleased with the tidy appearance.

Having LTM on our doorstep has proved to be a godsend in more ways than one.

There was the time we ran out of wire rope while custom making a large amount of suspensions on a weekend. One call to LTM and within the hour we had the rope we needed. Likewise if we need anything, shackles, spansets, they arrive instantly!

We use the LoadGuard Hoists, to the British Standard, daily. They are great, quiet, small, and perform without fault (except operator error…)

More than anything the service and support offered by LTM, John and Geoff who came to do a motor training session with us especially has been fantastic, at the end of a phone always ready to come over and look at a problem or sort any issues out so quickly.

We've been looking for sometime for a company to take on the test and inspection of our growing rigging inventory. After several false starts from companies who should know better, we have finally found the solution.
